10 warning signs for humanity about the 'doomsday'

Live Science has pointed out 10 terrifying discoveries that show that if destructive behaviors towards the planet are not quickly changed, humanity will face climate disasters that seem to only exist in apocalyptic movies.

Zombie viruses revived

Many ancient viruses have seen the sun again after being "sealed" in the permafrost for thousands and tens of thousands of years. A recent study has shown that 13 such species are powerful enough to awaken from Siberia's permafrost. Some species are entirely capable of mutating to create a new and horrific disease for humans because our immune system is entirely "naked" in front of these species that have seemingly disappeared for a long time.

Land sinking into the sea

The rising sea level that has turned many populous modern cities into swamps is a reality. Estimates show that sea levels in coastal areas of the United States could rise an average of 30cm by 2050, becoming a great disaster for areas like Miami. This will be the fate of many other cities in other countries, and the cause is still climate change.

Disappearance of glaciers

Two iconic national parks, Yellowstone and Yosemite, may completely lose their glaciers by 2050, according to a United Nations forecast, along with the threat that half of the world's glaciers will disappear at the same time.

Extreme climate

A

n unusual, extreme progression of climate that upsets previous forecasting models when pushed to the limit. In the worst-case scenario, Earth's future will endure seasons of intense change, such as those on alien worlds.

Polar bears drowning in garbage

The current image of the Arctic shows that the Earth is becoming a giant dump, pushing species to a place where there is no land left to live- which could be our future.

Worse weather

This summer's heatwaves, and winter's extreme cold, with snowstorms of dozens of degrees, which the US and some other countries had to endure this year, could be just the beginning. Climate change nurtures monstrous storms, increasing droughts and floods due to extreme weather patterns.

Emperor penguins on the brink of extinction

The emperor penguin, an iconic species of the South Pole, has just joined the ranks of endangered species at risk of extinction, showing how quickly the Earth is "melting away."

The Sixth mass extinction

Earth is heading towards its sixth mass extinction, with millions of species disappearing in the coming years. Human activities such as deforestation, habitat destruction, and climate change are the main drivers of this extinction crisis. This could have disastrous consequences for ecosystems and ultimately for human survival.

Water scarcity

Water scarcity is a growing concern as the world's population continues to grow and climate change exacerbates drought conditions in many regions. According to the United Nations, by 2025, nearly two-thirds of the world's population could be under water stress. This could lead to conflicts over water resources and have devastating effects on agriculture, food security, and public health.

Ocean acidification

Ocean acidification, caused by the absorption of excess carbon dioxide from the atmosphere, is threatening marine life and ecosystems. This process makes it difficult for organisms such as corals, shellfish, and plankton to form and maintain their shells and skeletons. As a result, entire food chains and ocean ecosystems are at risk.
These 10 frightening discoveries illustrate the urgent need for action to address the environmental challenges facing the planet. It is up to each and every one of us to take responsibility and make changes in our daily lives to protect the Earth for future generations.
